Preparing a File

MSU Printing Services has the ability to handle electronic files created by a variety of word processing, database, art and layout design programs. By keeping up with the latest technology, and by continuously upgrading existing software, we remain current with electronic prepress production techniques. Our operators utilize either PC or Macintosh computers and prepare customer files for electronic output. Some of the most common programs utilized by our customers are:

• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe Photoshop
• Aldus Freehand
• Aldus Pagemaker (Ver 5.0, 6.0 and 6.5)
• QuarkXPress

MSU Printing Services’ prepress specialists recommend customers provide "postscript" electronic files whenever possible. Files created this way contain required information, such as fonts and art, and greatly reduce delays. This is especially important, too, with files created in all versions of WordPerfect. Alternate methods of recreating or correcting these files may be advised.

Customer-supplied artwork may at times be incompatible, incorrect or incomplete, requiring rescans or revisions. To ensure quality and accuracy, please include a laser proof or PDF with all electronic files.
